An organized camp provides an outdoor group living experience filled with structured activities and programs. Environmental Health inspects organized camps on an annual basis to confirm camps are operated in a manner to provide a healthy and safe camper experience.
The inspections by Environmental Health ensure compliance with sections of California Health and Safety Code in the following areas:
- Food facility (kitchen and food preparation area)
- Swimming pool(s) or other bathing areas
- Infirmary records
- Water system
- Housing accommodations
- Emergency evacuation plans
- Plumbing facilities
- Vectors
